Resonators
No matter if you are playing bluegrass, country, or blues there is a high end resonator that will work for your musical style. Resonators are practically in a whole other instrument category of their own, but we have included one here because they are still considered a type of acoustic guitar.
Before amplifiers were invented, resonators were the loudmouths of the stage. They are capable of producing a much louder sound than the typical acoustic guitar. Many people love them for this very reason but it is also the unique sound that they are capable of producing that many guitarists love.
While some models are designed to be lap played in the fashion of a steel guitar, others are made to be played like a standard guitar. The most versatile sound great played either way and are equally comfortable used in either fashion. On this page you will find what we consider to be the most balanced and versatile resonator guitar for producing that delta blues sound.
Regal RC-1 Polychrome Duolian Guitar
Guitarists who want that down-home delta blues sound will love the Regal RC-1 Polychrome Duolian Guitar. The overall design of the Duolian hearkens back to the classic resonators that were used by blues artists of the Mississippi Delta in the 1930’s.
The look and sound of this guitar are equally spot on and it is fully capable of delivering the loudness and clean tone that blues artists are looking for in a resonator guitar.
The Regal RC-1 Polychrome Duolian Guitar has a metal body complete with pearloid peghead veneer, gray polychrome enamel finish, and rolled-in F-holes. It also comes equipped with a spun 9and ½ inch biscuit cone that has spiral ridges for providing the power, loudness, and incredibly sweet tone that makes it capable of belting out those vintage delta blues sounds. The neck is slim and features an adjustable truss rod and rosewood fingerboard. The precise fifteen to one ratio tuning machines are sealed and constructed of high quality die-cast metal.
Its clean tone and loud volume were favored by legendary blues artists like Tampa Red, Bukka White, and Son House, when the Duolian resonator guitar first came onto the scene in 1931. Because of this, the Duolian became the ever more popular choice of blues guitarists throughout the delta in the 1930’s. It was also a popular resonator guitar during the 1940’s and 1950’s Chicago blues scene.
The Regal RC-1 Polychrome Duolian Guitar continues this tradition as a high quality resonator guitar that is fully capable of reproducing those same vintage blues sounds .
Any guitarist who is looking for that Mississippi Delta blues sound will be delighted to find it when they have the pleasure of playing this wonderful instrument.
