Travel Size Acoustic Guitars

Whether you are on the road, traveling by plane, taking the bus, or backpacking sometimes it is always great to have a guitar on hand.  That is what is so great about the smaller high end portable acoustic guitars that are available. They make it possible for avid guitarists to play their music literally anywhere anytime.  Travel size acoustic guitars are light enough and small enough to tote along on camping trips and bring along on a plane as a carry-on.

There are many different styles and brands of travel sized acoustic guitars available and there are models built to suit almost any guitarists’ taste.  There are nylon string models as well as steel string models.   Many travel size acoustic guitars are handcrafted from high quality materials and designed to sound surprisingly warm and loud.  However, you should not expect them to produce the same level of sound as a full sized acoustic.  Many of them are built to last and are designed with rugged durability in mind.  If you want a small guitar that your can bring along with you no matter where you are traveling then a travel size acoustic guitar may be just what you need.

Martin Backpacker Steel String or Nylon String

Guitarists who are in need of a rugged lightweight portable acoustic guitar to practice and jam with while they are on the go should definitely consider the Martin Backpacker.  It is available in both steel string and nylon string models.

This guitar was designed with the harsh ruggedness of the outdoors in mind.  The Martin Backpacker is built to withstand much abuse which makes it the ideal guitar for hiking, backpacking, and camping.  Its compact sturdy body that weighs less than two and a half pounds. This makes the Martin Backpacker perfect for anyone who needs a lightweight guitar to take with them while they are traveling.

It has high quality chrome enclosed tuners and its braced, solid tonewood top with a solid mahogany neck, back, and sides allows the Martin Backpacker to provide a surprisingly warm and audible tone.  The included zippered gig bag and guitar strap add to the overall convenience and portability of its design.

For its size the Martin Backpacker does deliver considerable quality and tone.  However, this is only impressive due to its relatively small size.  You should not expect this instrument to deliver the same sound as a full or even small sized acoustic guitar.  Due to its small size and compact design this simply isn’t possible.  Never-the-less it’s fretwork and fingerboard offer the accuracy and feel that you would expect from a Martin guitar.  If you are in need of a rugged portable instrument that has a neck that is comparable in size and feel of a full sized acoustic then this is the guitar for you.
